Founder & Managing Director
Robin Choudhury qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in 1987 and subsequently pursued a career in Corporate Finance. He worked for the investment banking business of Barclays - BZW (now part of Credit Suisse) in international M&A and then at Deloitte & Touche and Arthur Andersen Corporate Finance where he headed the European Deal Origination Teams.
Robin has over 25 years’ experience of originating and advising on private equity transactions and investments. In addition, Robin has extensive experience of advising and originating major M&A transactions including the buyout of Tetley Tea and Principal Hotels Group.
During his work at Cornucopia Capital, he has had significant experience of advising on and originating real estate transactions. In particular, during 2015, he was involved in both the origination and advising on the buyout of a €750 million German real estate portfolio. During 2012, Robin worked in partnership with Colliers International and led the Cornucopia Capital team in respect of the €120 million financing of TVHG Group (“TVHG”) as described above.
Robin Choudhury was an Investor and Director of David Lloyd Resorts. The vehicle was focused on the acquisition of leisure/lifestyle related real estate globally. Through his work with David Lloyd over a 20-year time period, Robin has built an extensive network of contacts with investors, financiers and advisory firms in the leisure sector. During his work at BZW and Deloitte he had significant experience of advising on flotations and Equity Capital Market transactions. In particular, he led the successful listing of Clubhaus PLC during 1995. This transaction was particularly complex as it involved the simultaneous de-merger and re-listing of Ex Lands plc, the property related holding company.
Julia has 25 years of commercial, finance and investment experience in the UK and internationally.
The first 16 years of her experience was gained at BZW, Barclays Global Investors and AXA, in London as well as overseas.
At AXA she held a number of senior management positions both in Paris and London. Julia was Managing Director of AXA Investment Managers UK which had £60 billion under management, and prior to that Head of Retail and Head of Marketing. She was also Deputy Head of the AXA Group’s Corporate Strategy Group in Paris.
Julia has worked with Cornucopia Capital since 2005 and has been involved in all of the key transactions since then, contributing her specialist experience. In particular, she advises on strategic and investment matters.
Since 2008, Julia has been a Non-Executive Director of Franchise Brands Worldwide Limited, the largest Franchise Group of its kind in Europe and an investor in that company, which is now a public company.
During 2014, she was appointed Corporate Development Director of Franchise Brands.
Mariam is MBA-qualified and has worked with Cornucopia Capital for more than 10 years. She has substantial experience in financial modelling, capital raising, structuring of Private Equity transactions, equity research and analysis, analysing and preparing business plans and investment presentations.
Mariam has played an integral role in all the key Cornucopia Capital transactions since she joined the firm and has particular experience in real-estate, leisure, retail, technology and asset-backed transactions involving Private Equity.
In particular, she has worked on various projects and investments in the leisure and real estate sectors over the past seven years and has extensive experience of Hotel, Golf and Resort transactions.
Helene has worked with Cornucopia Capital for over 4 years and has been involved in a range of asset-backed and private equity transactions, both in Europe and Russia.
Helene received a Bachelor of Science in International Finance from the University of Buckingham with First Class Honours.
Helene is currently studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification. She is also a fluent German and Russian speaker.
Ian Wallis is an Operating Partner of Cornucopia Capital. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in London in 1987 after which he led the corporate finance function, including M&A, at Blenheim Exhibitions Group plc, the highly acquisitive quoted trade exhibition & conference organiser. Between 1988 and 1990 the company led consolidation, making some 40 cross-border acquisitions, which transformed it into the largest quoted company in the sector and from a UK-only group to a multinational that operated in 9 countries.
His subsequent career has been notably broad encompassing corporate, investment, and advisory roles. As the Investment Director and a Main Board Director of Greenchip Investments plc, an AIM quoted technology investment company, he negotiated and led the £10m reverse takeover acquisition of a US-based bio-and photo degradable plastics technology business in 2001.
Earlier, as VP Corporate Finance & Strategy for "The World" - the pioneering residential cruise ship launched in 2002 - Europe' s second largest leisure start-up after EuroDisney. As well as writing the business plan, he was a key member of the small team that sourced and negotiated the complex $350m structured project financing package from international institutional investors in 1999.
Prior to this, he had established a pan-European sunglass business for the Revo brand at Bausch & Lomb Inc. and was also Managing Director of Sir Jackie Stewart and son's eponymous motor racing and engineering consultancy business - Paul Stewart Racing.
He is a specialist in Business Planning, Corporate & Project Finance, Deal Structuring and Corporate Development including cross border M&A of Growth Companies.
Tobias Brown has been connected with Cornucopia Capital since November 2015 and since then has contributed the considerable experience he has gained from over 20 years spent in the hotels sector to a range of Leisure and Real Estate transactions in Europe. He has been working formally as an Operating Partner of Cornucopia Capital since March 2016.
Tobias is Managing Director of B2H Scout (Business 2 Hospitality), an independent advisory firm providing development and operational support for developers and investors in the hospitality sector. This includes assistance with finding and acquiring sites, concept and business model planning, branding and positioning, investor and operator searches, and interim management of distressed assets. Tobias has advised on a wide range of hospitality offerings and development formats in Europe, the Carribean and Asia, and recent clients include TUI Hotels & Resorts, Leonardo Hotels and citizenM Hotels. In addition, Tobias has recently advised AUCTUS Capital Partners GmbH, a private German investment fund, on investment opportunities globally.
Previously, Tobias was Director of International Development for the Central and Eastern Europe region at Wyndham and later, Project Developer at Loginns Immobilienentwicklungs GmbH, where he made significant contributions to the development of a 15,000 m² year-round holiday resort in Salzburgerland with a rental and exchange programme. In addition, Tobias has previously held the post of Chief Development Officer at Berlin Munich Hospitality Group, a Germany-based hotel management company, and has held senior roles at TUI, citizenM Hotels and InterContinental Hotels.
Tony Jansen has been an Operating Partner of Cornucopia Capital for over 5 years.
After a successful career in the Insurance industry, Tony successfully led the listing of an AIM company and became the CEO before disposing of the business to a trade buyer.
Since 2007, Tony has been involved in a number of Private Equity investments in the leisure sector with Cornucopia Capital. He has an excellent network of well-connected individuals both in the UK and across Europe.

Bruce Westbrook is currently an Adviser to Cornucopia Capital in respect of legal and commercial matters.
He was formerly a Senior Partner at one of the world's largest law firms, DLA Piper. He has over 30 years of experience of advising private equity institutions and management teams on buy-outs, buy-ins and development capital transactions.
Robin has extensively worked with him during his corporate finance career and Bruce is highly regarded in the City of London for his professionalism.

Adviser to Cornucopia Capital
During 2012, Cornucopia Capital played the leading role in the sourcing, structuring and negotiation of a significant investment by Metric Capital Partners LLP and Hutton Collins Partners LLP on behalf of TVHG Budget Group Netherlands ("TVHG"), one of the leading hotel developers and operators in the Netherlands. Cornucopia Capital successfully partnered with Colliers International in securing this investment which will allow TVHG to develop additional hotels in the Netherlands with a development value in excess of €120 million. The transaction closed in August 2012
Also in 2009, Cornucopia Capital advised on the GI Partners-backed acquisition of a former Second World War American airbase at Alconbury, West of Cambridge for £27.5 million in 2009. Prior to the acquisition, Cornucopia Capital also played a key role in the establishment of GI Partner's real estate operating company, Urban & Civic which targets strategic UK land estate acquisitions of metropolitan or regional scale capable of sustained development.
In 2008, Cornucopia Capital assisted and advised a consortium of high net worth investors in respect of the acquisition of MyHome International plc's businesses, a multi-product, multi-branded franchise operator, from the receiver. Post acquisition, Julia Choudhury joined the Board of Directors and an investment was made by the Choudhury family into Franchise Brands NewCo, which made the acquisition. The role advising Franchise Brands is ongoing.
In 2004, Cornucopia Capital originated the Permira backed takeover of De Vere Group plc for approximately £920 million which was outbid by The Alternative Investment Group plc with a £1.1 billion offer.
Since October 2009, Cornucopia Capital has been working with the Country Format management team in raising the total financing of $311 million for the DancingGreen Project, a major Holiday Village Project in Russia located close to Moscow. The Partnership identified a strategic investor for the Project and discussions are ongoing.
In 2009, Cornucopia Capital working with GI Partners, a mid-market private equity firm with approximately $8.4 billion of capital under management, made an offer for a Data Centre of approximately 700,000 sq ft based in Cambridge, England.
In 2006, Cornucopia Capital and associates originated the Permira backed management buy-out of Principal Hotels and the subsequent acquisition of Hawkstone Park Golf and Country Club for a total financing of approximately £500 million.
In 1999, originated the sale of Tetley Tea (a venture capital backed company) to Tata Tea for £271 million, which closed in 2000.
